Joleen Stinson is the Dane County Parks Director. Joleen serves ex-officio on the Foundation's Board and is the liaison between Dane County Parks and the Foundation. Joleen grew up on the west side of Dane County and has been recreating in Dane County Parks her whole life. She started volunteering with one of the Friends groups as a high school student. She graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a degree in natural resources management and environmental education in 2006. Most of Joleen’s career has been in Parks, Recreation and Forestry in smaller municipalities in Dane County, including the City of Sun Prairie and Villages of DeForest and Waunakee. In 2020, she was chosen as the Outstanding Park Professional of the year by the Wisconsin Park and Recreation Association. The award recognizes park professionals who show outstanding leadership and dedication to their communities and the park industry.
